New Zealand is also following the broadband road and they will be deploying a open fiber network.
The network model here is different because they will be deploying dark fiber.
I link directly to the official website of the New Zealand government because the information presented there is very comprehensive, also with a questions and answers section.
Although this is a good initiative, I prefer other operation models, like creating a wholesale bitstream provider so operators do not have to invest in the outside plant at all, but just in services… I know that this has some implications with EU regulations, but I believe this is the most optimal way to offer future broadband services.
Anyway, I am wondering when our politicians will notice that the rest of the world is investing in broadband technologies, while they are charging taxes to the operators to remove the ads on TV…
