The pigeon experiment

Last week there was an interesting article with a comparison about different “technologies” to transmit data. They compared a pigeon and a broadband connection to move data from two different locations.

The pigeon won. The experiment was done in South Africa. Maybe here in Spain would have been even worse, who knows…

However, I want to note that the traditional FedEx (or here in Spain, SEUR) way to transmit data by packing and shipping hard drives or memories is still used to consolidate data among data centers, specially in the Terabyte range.

In any case, this is another proof that telecom networks need to be improved if we want to enjoy true broadband, specially in the access part.
