Telekom Austria investments in NGNs

Telekom Austria is also planning to invest in the development of next generation networks.

They plan to invest 1.500M EUR in the deployment of broadband, both, fixed and mobile.

One of the projects is the creation of a pilot Fiber City to offer 1Gbps connectivity to 150k users.

For the rural areas, they are planning more modest connections using VDSL2.

For the mobile part, Mobilkom will invest 500M EUR to upgrade the network and offer high speed connectivity services.

Austria is a country that can be compared to Catalonia in size and population. If they develop this project, we will not be able to compare Catalonia and Austria on broadband technologies in the future…
